2nd Annual Concordia College Oboe Day
Featuring John Snow and Stephanie Carlson
8:30am – 5pm, March 26, 2017
John Snow, associate principal oboist with the Minnesota Orchestra, has been a member of and guest principal oboist with several orchestras around the country. An avid teacher and clinician, he has given recitals and master classes across the country and is on the faculty of the University of Minnesota. Snow performs with many chamber groups in the Twin Cities area and is a member of The Musical Offering. A Buffet Crampon Artist, he plays exclusively on a Buffet Greenline oboe.
Stephanie Carlson is an instructor of oboe at Concordia. She currently performs with the Concordia Wind Quintet and as second oboist with the FM Symphony. Prior to her appointment at Concordia, she served on the faculty of the Atlanta Music Academy. She received her D.M.A. and M.M. degrees from the University of Georgia and her Bachelor of Music degree from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music.
8:30am – Doors open
9-10:30am – Master classes
11am – 12pm – Guest artist/faculty recital featuring John Snow
12pm- 1pm – Reed-making session
2:30-3:30pm – Oboe ensemble rehearsal
3:30-5pm – Master classes
5pm – Oboe ensemble concert
All events will take place at the Hvidsten Hall of Music at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. All events are free and open to the public. All ages and ability levels are welcome.
