FFF17: Short Stories Showcase at the Fargo Theatre
March 23, 2017@7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Fargo Film Festival is proud to announce “Short Stories,” a showcase of award-winning short films on Thursday, March 23.
While not frequently found onscreen in American cinemas, short format films are audience favorites and a calling card of the festival experience. Thriving within the restrictions of limited runtime and humble budgets, short film artists tell compelling stories and introduce unforgettable characters.
The FFF’s Short Stories showcase offers a diverse slate of programming including comedy, drama, experimental, and documentary films. International highlights include The Last One, a British drama that follows the last living man on Earth. Lead actor Paul Bailey will be visiting from London to interact with FFF audiences and participate in a Q&A session. Australian artists/advocates Barbara Pashut and Izaak Love are also making the long trek to Fargo in support of their experimental short Gratus. This deeply personal film was made in collaboration with six people living with complex mental health issues. It gives voice to their experiences and the positive impact of practicing gratitude.
The Short Stories showcase will also include local and regional films. The South Dakota produced comedy Duffy’s Jacket doubles as a creature feature. Director Brian Hoesing will be present to answer questions about his process and experiences working with iconic character actor Doug Jones. The showcase will culminate with the screening of On the Wall, Off the Chain, a locally produced documentary short. Director Greg Carlson has been named recipient of the 2017 Ted M. Larson Award, the FFF’s highest honor. The award recognizes Dr. Carlson’s lifelong dedication to the cinematic arts as an educator, filmmaker, critic, and scholar.
The Short Stories showcase will screen at 7:00pm
Thursday, March 23 at the Fargo Theatre.
