The 16th Annual North Dakota Intercollegiate Band Concert will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. in Festival Concert Hall at North Dakota State University. The concert is free and open to the public.
The North Dakota National Guard’s 188th Army Band will also perform in addition to students from 11 colleges and universities across the state. Col. Tim Holtan, commander of the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” Washington, D.C., is the guest conductor for the concert.

He holds the distinction of being the first officer to command all three of the Army’s premier bands. He is a native of Bismarck, N.D., and a former school music educator in Montana. An active conductor, adjudicator and clinician, Col. Holtan has presented concerts and clinics in all 50 states, Canada, Japan, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Europe.
The North Dakota Intercollegiate Band is a joint effort of collegiate band directors to provide a high-caliber musical experience to student musicians from the colleges and universities of North Dakota through collaboration with their peers and a conductor of national renown. Acceptance into the ensemble is by director nomination.
Students participating in the 2017 concert are from Bismarck State College, Dickinson State University, Mayville State University, Minot State University, North Dakota State College of Science, North Dakota State University, University of Jamestown, University of Mary, University of North Dakota, Valley City State University and Williston State College.
