Red River Winter Market at Stone Building (Formerly Downtown Avalon)
March 4, 2017@10:00 am - 2:00 pm
‘Red River Market provides a taste of summer at winter event’
Those who are missing warm summer days at the farmers’ market will get a chance stock up on goods from their favorite local vendors at the Red River Winter Market. The Red River Market, Fargo-Moorhead’s largest farmers’ market, will host a one-time winter market event on Saturday, March 4th, 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. at the historic Stone Building.
Visitors will be able to peruse booths while enjoying a hot coffee or locally brewed beer and live music, all while in the warmth and comfort of the great indoors. In lieu of the market’s usual produce selection, this winter version of the event will have a wide variety of locally made pantry items including canned goods, honey, and hot sauce, household goods including soaps and lotions, as well as arts and crafts.
Beyond the products available, market organizer, Joe Burgum, hopes that this event creates an opportunity for community members to spend time with their neighbors this winter. “We have seen the farmers’ market become a vital community gathering space over the last two years. The Red River Market is an event that is inclusive and open to all,” said Burgum.
The Red River Market has partnered with Kilbourne Group to host the event at the historic Stone Building at 613 1st Ave N. “Kilbourne Group is excited to partner with the Red River Market to provide a unique setting for the event,” said Kilbourne Group Communications Manager, Adrienne Olson. “Much of Fargo remembers the Stone Building as the downtown Avalon Events Center; some may remember it as a music conservatory. We invite you inside to enjoy and shop this wonderful local market, and to experience the ornate historic beauty of the Stone Building.”
The Red River Winter Market is a pilot to see if market goers are interested in a regularly scheduled winter market next year. The Red River Market’s 2017 season will begin on July 8th.
