Metro Quilt Expo Pops Up for Two Days of Fun
The Quilters’ Guild of North Dakota provided the following information…
Enjoy two days of quilt fun at the 2017 Metro Quilt Expo on Friday, April 28, 9 am-7 pm and Saturday, April 29, 9 am-5 pm at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Fargo. Admission is $5; free for children under 12.
“We are excited to share our love of quilting and show some of the wonderful work being made by quilters of all ages,” says Barb Zeleznik, President, Quilters’ Guild of North Dakota. “You’ll see hundreds of quilts including three special exhibits of award-winning quilts ranging from postcard to king-size.”
In addition to the judged quilt show of more than 180 entries, the Expo includes shopping at vendor booths as well as a different small quilt silent auction changing each day.
Free and open to the public are demonstrations about crazy quilting, Brazilian embroidery, jelly roll piecing, Shibori folding and dyeing, and machine needle felting. Attend a lecture for $10 and learn about buttons, use of color, Colcha embroidery, ethnic patchwork, or treadle sewing machines. Nationally certified quilt judge Kate Eelkema, from Minnetonka MN, presents her talk on what judges evaluate.
“The quilt show includes quilts in a variety of styles from very traditional to very modern,” says Expo Chair, Kim Stenehjem. “We hope people who love quilts but have never made one will want to try their hand at it when they see all the possibilities.”
