Advocating is a big part of our job. As the Metro’s umbrella arts organization, we advocate on behalf of the arts at the city and state levels. We also work with business, educational and service club sectors in our region to ensure that our community understands that the arts are a valuable element of our social and economic success.
TAP upholds one of its core values — to promote a creatively enriched community — through its communications efforts on behalf of our Partners and the arts community generally. TAP staff writes weekly articles in the Fargo Forum, produces a dynamic blog and weekly newsletter “Connecting the Dots” and maintains an active presence on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms. Partners have direct access to our communications staff to help amplify communications to promote your work or events. You also have the opportunity to write articles for our blog.
TAP is an ever-renewing resource to its Partners. The resources page on our website is just the start. Partners receive first-hand and early notification of grant deadlines and other opportunities, such as calls for artists. We often directly connect our Partners with entities seeking their artistic services, for example, for an artist to paint a mural or vice-versa, or help businesses and other organizations put out calls seeking artists. We even offer protocols on how to jury applicants.
Although COVID-19 has limited our ability to host open houses, we continue to look for safe/distanced networking opportunities with the ever-expanding and impressive roster of Partners, other creatives in the community and both businesses and individuals who support the arts. For example, TAP’s President & CEO holds monthly meetings for the directors of the Metro’s arts organizations, which provides the opportunityfor them to share experiences and seek peer advice.
TAP’s staff will provide complimentary consulting with our Partners about grant writing, social media tutorials, how much they should charge for their art, strategic planning, communication plans and strategies and much more.
