This year, ChalkFest takes place Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Red River Zoo, hosted by The Arts Partnership and sponsored by 702 Communications.
ChalkFest is an incredibly fun, low-key way for children and adults to let their creativity out and enjoy our community’s wonderful zoo. And it’s free, including zoo admission! All ChalkFest asks is for attendees – no matter their age, background or abilities – to draw with chalk or cheer on those who are drawing. Inspired by the otters? Draw them! Want to draw your grandpa or little sister? Terrific! Are stick figures more your speed? Enjoy! The beauty of chalk is that it’s universal, it’s relatable and it’s fun.
Participants will be welcomed to the Zoo by artists making large-scale chalk drawings at the Zoo entrance. Inside, there will be free chalk for all and performances by local musicians.
Guests will be encouraged to wear masks and social distance in adherence to the Red River Zoo’s guidelines. Partnering with the Red River Zoo to present ChalkFest on its 32 acres of outdoor space allows for more than adequate social distance and maximum ventilation.
