What: Please join us at the Spirit Room in Gallery II for the exhibition of Sally Backman’s “Iron Crosses: A Folk Art that Transcends Culture” in celebration of the 2018 Scandinavian festival. Backman’s work celebrates the tradition and history of the Swedish iron cross.
Backman says, “. In the early 20th century, Sweden undertook an effort to restore and preserve their country’s history. Due to this action, these cultural treasures were returned to their original cemeteries for the next generations to enjoy. This photography exhibit will feature 18 iron cross images with a brief historical note.”
“Iron Crosses: A Folk Art that Transcends Culture” is made possible through funding in part by North Dakota Council on the Arts and the Arts Partnership.
