Dibaajimowin: History in Color

March 12, 2022 @ 8:00 am - January 6, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Dibaajimowin features images of Indigenous Americans taken at the turn of the 20th century and digitally colorized by Kade Ferris, a scholar who advised our work on Ihdago Manipi and a member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa and Red River Métis. Kade maintains the Dibaajimowin blog, which features unique stories and historical anecdotes about the Ojibwe and Métis.

These exhibits have been funded in part by grants from the Science Museum of Minnesota in conjunction with their exhibit Race: Are We So Different? and from the Minnesota Humanities Center through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021.

The museum is open Mon.-Sat. 9am-5pm and Sundays 12-5pm. Every Tuesday night 5-8pm admission is free. Regular museum rates are $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and college students and $8 for youth 5-17. Children under 5 and HCSCC members are always free.
