Summer Camp: Ceramic Luminaries & Lanterns – Teens (Handbuilding & Wheel throwing)

June 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Summer Camp: Ceramic Luminaries & Lanterns (Handbuilding & Wheel throwing)

In this hands-on summer camp, participants will dive into the fascinating world of ceramics and light. Inspired by Light Windows: Convergence I-III from Anne Labovitz’s exhibit Convergence: Health & Creativity, campers will create their own ceramic luminaries and lanterns. The workshop will explore how light interacts with different ceramic materials, as well as the ways light can transform shapes, shadows, and space.

Through guided instruction, participants will experiment with various techniques to craft functional and artistic pieces that highlight the delicate balance between form and illumination. This immersive experience will inspire campers to consider the connection between art, health, and creativity while developing their skills in ceramics and understanding the interplay of light and structure.
