Act Up Theatre of Fargo-Moorhead is proud to announce the cast for the critically-acclaimed musical “Dogfight”, which will be
performed June 28-30, 2022 at the Roland Dille Center for the Arts on the campus of Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
With its hauntingly beautiful music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and based on the book by Peter Duchan, “Dogfight”
has been praised by countless critics and nominated for numerous awards, winning the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical. The musical will be directed and choreographed by Craig A. Ellingson, with vocal direction by Mara Campbell. This is the first time this musical will be performed in our Fargo-Moorhead area. Set in the Vietnam war era, “Dogfight” tells the story of a romance between a waitress and a young Marine shipping off to war. The couple first meets the night before the Marine and his friends leave for Vietnam, in an unfortunate beginning to the relationship. But through experiences in their lives over time, they recognize the true beauty camouflaged in each other. “Dogfight” focuses on the power of kindness, and that each person can have a profound impact on the world around them. “Dogfight” was selected by Act Up, because the themes touch on many issues relevant to today: War and its effect on soldiers, the objectification of women, and the need for more compassion and empathy.
