DESCRIPTION:Stop in and view “CamVid: Shine Brite Like a Virus\,” at The Rourke. \nCameron Peterson was born on April 21\, 1977\, in Langdon\, North Dakota. He earned a BFA from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a concentration in printmaking. His work has been exhibited at Upfront Gallery (2008)\, Rourke Art Gallery Museum (2007\, 2011\, 2017 & 2023)\, Spirit Room (2006)\, St. Paul Gallery (2016)\, and Creative Arts Studio (2005). He participated in “100 Abstract” at MSUM (2010). Membership editions he has printed include Smoky Hill River Festival (2006) and The Rourke Art Gallery Museum (2002-2011). \nCameron currently works at The Rourke Art Gallery & Museum. He resides in Moorhead with his fiancée Annette (Nettie) DuBord. Nettie and Cameron create their works in their basement studio and enjoy their new home. \nEnjoy Cameron’s exhibit and all of our displays from 1 to 5 p.m. on Fridays\, Saturdays\, and Sundays.

DESCRIPTION:Visit The Rourke and view the extraordinary exhibit “Dan Jones: Changing Seasons” on display in the Main Gallery. \nAbout the artist: Dan Jones was born and raised in Fargo\, ND. After viewing the Picasso retrospective at the Walker Art Center in 1980\, he was compelled to consider a career in art and enrolled at North Dakota State University. His educational journey took him to the University of Minnesota and finally back to NDSU where he studied art history\, researched Old Masters painting techniques and met his future wife\, Julia. \nDan and Julia traveled the western and southwestern United States before settling down in the Minneapolis\, MN area where he continued to be involved in the wholesale and retail art business. After the birth of his fourth child\, Jones and his family returned to Fargo in 1992\, continued in the retail art business and was involved in the arts community\, eventually devoting his time exclusively to his craft. \n​Jones is best known for panoramic oil paintings. Bold and sweeping brush strokes accented by rhythmic patterns of color to create highly atmospheric and expressive visual statements. Many collectors find his regional subject matter evokes emotions of places remembered; the pristine and quiet atmosphere of the northern plains. Works by Jones are found in corporate\, museum and private collections throughout the United States and Europe. \n“Dan Jones: Changing Seasons” will be on display until Sunday 7 January. We hope you get to chance to come in and explore this exquisite exhibit. Public Viewing Hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday.

SUMMARY:"Connections" at Spirit Room Galleries
DESCRIPTION:January 1 – March 29\, 2024\, Spirit Room Gallery 1 \nReception – Thursday\, January 4\, 2024 at 5:00 pm \nPlease join us at the Spirit Room for a celebration of “Connections\,” a photographic celebration of the life and culture in Mexico by Lowell Wolff. \nIn 2005\, Lowell Wolff and his wife accepted a friend’s invitation to join them for a week in Mexico. Once there they fell in love with the ocean\, the climate and most of all\, the people. In 2011 they chose to retire\, spending 4-5 months a year living there\, making it a point to know the market\, restaurant and shop owners in their Colonia of Las Brisas in Manzanillo\, Colima\, Mexico. Lowell eventually fell into a routine\, photographing street scenes. He says he “realize(s) now that those activities developed and deepened a connection to this place\, this culture\, a connection to the families that owned the markets and restaurants and to people I met on the streets. These photographs are a celebration of all those Connections strong enough to transcend language.” \nThe reception will be held on Thursday\, January 4th at 5:00 p.m.\nFood and drink will be available\, and the event is open and free to the public. For individuals and families who prefer a quiet\, less sensory-stimulating environment\, we offer Low-Sensory Mondays on the first Monday afternoon of every month. At each event\, loud gallery sounds and bright lights are turned down and attendance is limited. Fidgets will be available for checkout. \n
