SUMMARY:10th Anniversary "Let Music Live!" by FMGMC
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at our 10th Anniversary Concert “Let Music Live!”. Our very first concert was 10 years ago in April 2014. We are celebrating by sharing some of our favorites from past concerts\, as well as a few new ones that we felt would fit very well for this concert. St John Lutheran has been generous enough to host our concert once again in their beautiful sanctuary\, and stay after the concert when we’ll be serving up a free will offering dinner of delicious tacos made by our Artistic Director Angel Lira\, so you know you’ll enjoy every bite! It is going to be on Cinco de Mayo after all. 😁 We’ll have pieces with the whole chorus\, our small group is going to do a few pieces including one composed by our Principal Accompanist Jared Hoeft with lyrics by one of our past members D. Orlin Henderson\, Jared and Amanda Hoeft will present another of Jared’s compositions for piano\, flute\, and marimba. We’re even going to be joined by a special guest soloist\, the incomparable Lisa Kornkven! The Amazing Miss Kitty will be joining us as Emcee\, which is very fitting since they were singing with us at that first concert too. You won’t want to miss it!! Tickets for the performance will be $15 at the door\, and the dinner will be a free will offering fundraiser. Hope to see you all there!!

SUMMARY:Trevelyon Needle Book Embroidery Workshop

The 6-hour workshop will be held at the Hjemkomst Center\, Oak Room\, in Moorhead starting at 9:30am. The design will use satin stitch\, stem stitch\, long and short shading\, leaf stitch and trellis work. The finished design size is 4” x 4.5“ \nRegistration of $80 includes the $55 supplies kit and $25 class fee. The kit contains beautiful linen twill with printed design\, 7 full skeins of cotton floss\, needles\, a full color instruction booklet\, lining fabric for the needle book\, felt for the pages\, and an individualized project bag. \nThe students will need to provide a basic stitching kit\, magnification and lighting\, an 8” hoop with a lap stand\, roller frame or slate frame and stand. \nParticipation is limited to 20. Registration is at https://www.hcscconline.org/events.html \nThe affordable class fee for this workshop is made possible through grant support. SUMMARY:"Fiddler on the Roof"
DESCRIPTION:Act Up Theatre\, in collaboration with The Straw Hat Players\, will present the award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof\, featuring local talent and creators\, June 11-15\, 2024 at 7:30 pm on the Gaede stage at the Roland Dille Center for the Arts\, Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). The show will be directed by Craig A. Ellingson. \nFiddler is a renowned musical with music by Jerry Bock\, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick\, and book by Joseph Stein. Set in Imperial Russia around 1905\, the story centers on Tevye\, a milkman in the village of Anatevka\, who attempts to maintain his religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon his family’s lives. With humor and heartache\, “Fiddler” tackles the issues of government persecution\, anti-Semitism\, traditions and family values in an ever-changing world. \nThe themes of Fiddler on the Roof revolve around people who become displaced — and the related universal question\, “How do you accept other people whose entire foundation is completely different from your own?” Act Up’s contemporary portrayal of this show will be relevant and timely\, reflecting current events: Intolerance of groups via forced relocations\, entrenched prejudice\, social disadvantage and political oppression. \nLeads for the production include Ted Horan as “Tevye”\, Aimee Klein as his wife “Golde”\, and David Triptow as “The Fiddler”
