Yesterday, I had the luck of having a chocolate croissant at Partner Nichole’s with Partner Susie Ekberg Risher to celebrate her birthday week. When you are as fabulous as Susie, you need more than one day to celebrate, and I had the distinct pleasure of being part of her week.
We were talking about ways that individuals can make a difference to The Arts Partnership, and I talked about how we are working to expand our Individual Artist Arts Partnership (IAAP) granting program, which is only in its second year.
Susie was excited about this possibility and said, “I want to be part of this. How do I do that?”
I told her I would send her the information later in the day.
Susie mentioned earlier in the conversation that she has a long-standing funding relationship with another local group and she wished they would just trust that she was going to continue funding them until she let them know it was time to stop versus making “the ask” every year. I took that in to account and changed the document about the IAAP to ask her to consider funding two grants for three years.
Here is what she wrote back: Let’s make it 5 years! What the heck – it’s my birthday week! Let me know what I need to do….. S
So today I am thrilled to announce that we will have two Susie Ekberg Risher Individual Artist Arts Partnership grants available every year for the next five years! Say that three times fast!
Here is what I learned from this exchange:
How’s that for a birthday celebration? Thanks so much Susie! If you are interested in joining her in this joyful exchange, let me know. I would be happy to talk with you about sponsoring your own Individual Artist Arts Partnership grant, too.
