On Thursday, June 9, 2016, The Arts Partnership hosted The State of the Arts with more than 200 people in attendance at The Stage at Island Park. Arts leaders, artists and community and business leaders met to learn more about the work of The Arts Partnership and the state of the arts in the metro.
We launched The State of The Arts Partnership video highlighting our year in review. Thanks to MSUM film student Erin LeMair, her professor Alex Fogarty and composer Quinn Del Val.
TAP board chair Ellen Shafer welcomed the audience and introduced executive director Dayna Del Val who highlighted some successes in the arts this year and challenged the community to do more to support the arts.
Artist Laura Youngbird received the Outstanding Artist of the Year award
FM Choral Artists received the Outstanding Organization of the Year award
Sanford Health received the Outstanding Corporate Support of the Arts award
The awards were made by Primary Artist Partner Catie Miller.
Mayors Del Rae Williams (Moorhead) and Rich Mattern (West Fargo) were on hand to greet the 33 City Arts Partnership grant recipients. $84,000 was awarded from the City Arts Partnership grants and an additional $13,750 was awarded in the Sanford Arts Partnership merit awards for a total of $97,750, by far the largest amount of money we have ever handed out in one single year.
The FM Choral Artists sent the audience out with a rousing rendition of “Every Time I Feel the Spirit.”
