With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, things are quieting down a notch for the next few days around town. That’s ok. Have some time with your family, enjoy a bountiful feast, and enjoy safe travels.
If you’re itchin’ for something to get you off the couch–and we highly advise this–then you can’t go wrong with any of the following:
Through the weekend
Theatre B opens its new holiday comedy, The 12 Dates of Christmas, on Thanksgiving Day. In it, Mary spends a year going from one cataclysmic relationship to the next, constantly searching for “The One.” A perfect compliment to your dysfunctional holiday season. The show will run through December 29. Click over for showtimes and tickets. [Theatre B]
The Fargo Theatre is running the comedy The Sessions and the Richard Gere drama Arbitrage this weekend. [Fargo Theatre]
Moorhead High concludes its run of the popular The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with shows Friday and Saturday. [Moorhead HS]
Tonight
Lava Proof Boots, Cheef, Stupid Birthday, and more will be part of Gobble Bass, a showcase of local electronic mastery at The Aquarium. 10 p.m. [The Aquarium/Facebook]
Thursday
Tryptophan Zombie Time, then a free Thanksgiving dance party at the Aquarium. Those guys love Thanksgiving. 10 p.m. [The Aquarium/Facebook]
Friday
Circumvrent that whole Black Friday thing and take part in the Red Raven’s Black Friday Free Market. Bring a used item to give away (“Someone might get some use out of this, but I’m just too lazy to use Craigslist.”) and look at stuff you’d like to take home (“Hey, I could use one of those! And I didn’t even have to hop on Craigslist!”). Noon to 8 p.m. [Red Raven/Facebook]
Riverzen in Moorhead will host an open house from 4 – 7 p.m. Do some local holiday shopping for art, ornaments, and gift packages galore. [Riverzen]
Seal the deal on your Black Friday with a big glass of Empyrean’s Dark Side Vanilla Porter straight from the firkin at the HoDo. 5 p.m. [HoDo/Facebook]
Monday
Plains Art Museum kicks off its Noon Holiday Concert Series with the Concordia Sax Quartet. Concerts will run Monday through Thursday, through December 13. [Plains Art Museum]
And that’s your week ahead, folks. Don’t worry; the ball really gets rolling next week. Until then, our best to you.
