So we’re over the Labor Day threshold, meaning the freedom and excitement of summer must surely yield the grays and blahs of fall and winter, right?

No sirree! All around town, signs of life abound in our galleries, our theaters, and out in the streets. Stuff like:

  • The opening of Voyeurs: The Art of Billy Black, Punchgut, and Spider, tonight from 6 – 10 p.m. at The Rourke. You can catch a gallery talk by the three artists  on Sunday at 2 p.m., too. Details here.
  • An evening with PEARS studio artists Kent Kapplinger and Eric Johnson, Friday night, 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Tonight’s opening of Music Theatre Fargo Moorhead’s dark musical Jekyll and Hyde. Tickets and showtimes here. (We also had an interview with cast member Angie Schulz.)
  • Fargo Theatre and the F-M Derby Girls‘ one-time showing of the documentary Derby Baby (that’s the trailer, above) Friday night at 8 p.m. Details at fargotheatre.org.
  • Grand opening celebrations for everyone’s favorite upcyclers, Unglued. Details at their website.
  • A reception for Concordia grad Ann Solyst’s exhibitions Mortals and Birds Satuday, 1-3 p.m. at the Spirit Room.
  • Tonight’s 2012 Cruisin’ Night finale. Bad Weather Burlesque has more shenanigans planned to coincide.

AndandAND … Atmosphere, kings of upper Midwest hip-hop, are in town this Saturday at The Venue at the Hub!

Now, how’s that for a slice of fried gold?
