Nothing beats the feeling of opening up a “Weekend Thingies” post knowing that the virtual smorgasbord of things happening includes a l’il sumpin’ sumpin’ for all the good people of our wonderful city. To wit:

  • The FM LGBT Film Festival kicks off on Friday with screenings through the weekend at the Fargo Theatre. Check out our interview with special guest filmmaker Mary Guzman and get ready to enjoy cutting-edge LGBT films. (FM LGBT Film Festival)
  • What ho! T’is a Pirate Pub Crawl! Avast, shiver me timbers, ya har, and so forth.
  • Theatre B opens the Tony-nominated play Good People tonight. The production runs through the next four weekends. (Theatre B)
  • Attention fiber arts fans: as if the restored and repaired yarn sleeves didn’t give you reason enough to get downtown this weekend, the 33rd Annual Indian Summer Quilt Show at the Civic Center should give you plenty more to admire. Here’s our preview. (Quilter’s Guild of ND)
  • Bare Stage Theatre presents Greater Tuna over the next two weekends at The Stage at Island Park. (The Stage)
  • Caustic. Abrasive. Subversive. Libertarian. There are a number of terms to explain comedian Doug Stanhope, but those about cover it for our purposes. He’ll be at the Nestor, 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Here’s the HPR’s writeup.
