The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is pleased to announce the opening of Quilt National ’23, a juried exhibit of 30 one-of-a-kind quilted masterpieces, on July 2, 2024, at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead. The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, OH, has organized this biennial competition for 45 years. Commenting on the innovation and diversity of Quilt National, Leah Magyary, Executive Director of The Dairy Barn Arts Center, says, “Throughout its history, Quilt National has showcased quilts that play with light, space, color, and technology, allowing new masterpieces to emerge and blossom. And we are not done yet- there is so much more for the quilting world to discover, and the more artists we invite to the table, the better we can progress towards untapped creativity.”
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation; Minnesota Quilters; The Arts Partnership with the Cities of Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo; the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, and by a generous donation from Joe and Muriel Richardson.
The exhibit will run through Sept. 30. Museum hours are Mon.-Sat. 9am-5pm, Sun 12-5, open until 8pm on Tuesdays. Admission is $12 adults, $11 seniors, $9 college students, $8 youths 5-17, and free to four and under, HCSCC members, active military and their families and on Tuesday nights 5-8pm.
