2022 CatVideoFest coming to Fargo Theatre September 10

Cats. They inspire many late-night scroll fests. They bring coworkers together in shared reverence for Roomba-riding cats and that one who looks exactly like Ron Perlman. Plus, who doesn’t love Grumpy Cat? (RIP.)

The cat video could very well be the greatest thing to come from the internet, and if you’re a cat lover—or at least a cat video lover—you’ll want to be at the Fargo Theatre on Saturday for CatVideoFest.

It’s an all-ages, feature-length compilation of “the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos and classic internet powerhouses,” according to CatVideoFest organizers.

The theatre is holding a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening showing. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids 16 and under. They’re now available for purchase on the Fargo Theatre website or at the box office.

“CatVideoFest is just such a cool way to to take these funny, fantastic cute cat videos that we all know and love from Instagram and Tiktok and the Internet and put them on a big screen so that you can see them in a communal space with an audience,” said Sean Volk, Fargo Theatre community engagement manager.

Plus, a portion of ticket sales go to Homeward Animal Shelter, which will be onsite with actual, real-live cats.

“Who doesn’t love some fun cat videos full of shenanigans, plenty of cuteness, and of course a little bit of cattitude,” Heather Klefstad, marketing director of Homeward Animal Shelter, said. “It’s a great opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the shelter animals in our community waiting for their forever homes.”

The last time Fargo Theatre hosted CatVideoFest was 2015, which is the equivalent to 44 cat years, so we encourage everyone to attend one of the two showings that day before another 44 years goes by just like that.

“It’s cool to be able to bring the arts and, you know, animal advocacy together in a way that’s so fun and approachable,” Volk said.
