Don’t miss the latest Main Gallery Lecture: “Beyond the Blackbook – Minnesota Graffiti Culture and Influence with Kylie Linh Hoang,” Thursday, 23 May, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Rourke.

Delve into the five pillars of hip-hop and learn about the rich history and community behind this dynamic art form. Led by Kylie Linh Hoang, assistant curator at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, this lecture will explore the cultural significance of graffiti and its impact on marginalized groups. From black sketchbooks to large-scale works, Minnesota graffiti writers have nurtured a thriving community based on creativity, style,and mentorship.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for reception and refreshments, with lecture to follow at 6:30 p.m.
