2025 FMVA Studio Crawl

At TAP, we’ve been looking forward to the upcoming weekend for weeks: the annual FMVA Studio Crawl.
First and foremost, Studio Crawl is about giving the art obsessed among us (people like you and me) a chance to meet local artists in the unique intimacy of their working studios. In many ways, this experience is an essential look into the heart of our community — the arts.
Secondly, whether I plan to purchase anything or not, I love asking artists all kinds of questions about their work. It helps open me up to new ways of thinking about not only the artists’ perspective on the world around them, but my own as well.
Of course, artists welcome your credit cards, too, and they aren’t the only ones who benefit. Your decor will look better and so will your outlook. Every time I buy a piece of art in person from someone I’ve met, I remember my conversation and the personal meaning behind it.
This year’s Studio Crawl wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging the tenacity, creativity and hard work of Jon Offutt, who officially hands over his duties as Studio Crawl leader to printmaker Eric Johnson in 2026. While we watching Jon retire already makes us a bit nostalgic already, we know FMVA and future Studio Crawls are in excellent hands with Eric.
So go out to enjoy this year’s Studio Crawl and hope to see you out and about!
