Amy Sands provides an artist talk for her exhibit Trådar (Threads). In the Bunad series, she has captured the close-up images of Norwegian bunad handwork taken at the Osterøy Museum in Norway and translated the images into polymer photogravure black and white prints. The stains, rips, and loose threads on the preserved historic textiles become an active component of the work. In the Portal series, Sands has integrated historical photos from the Tekstilindustrimuseet of the Norwegian textiles industry and patterns from the textile collection at the Osterøy to produce a fish-eye perspective, embellishing the images with embroidery and beads. The Portal series will be up through March 30, 2025 and the Bunad series will be up through June 23, 2025.
The talk is free and open to the public.
