“Connections” at Spirit Room Galleries

January 1 @ 8:00 am - March 24 @ 5:00 pm

January 1 – March 29, 2024, Spirit Room Gallery 1

Reception – Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 5:00 pm

Please join us at the Spirit Room for a celebration of “Connections,” a photographic celebration of the life and culture in Mexico by Lowell Wolff.

In 2005, Lowell Wolff and his wife accepted a friend’s invitation to join them for a week in Mexico. Once there they fell in love with the ocean, the climate and most of all, the people. In 2011 they chose to retire, spending 4-5 months a year living there, making it a point to know the market, restaurant and shop owners in their Colonia of Las Brisas in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. Lowell eventually fell into a routine, photographing street scenes. He says he “realize(s) now that those activities developed and deepened a connection to this place, this culture, a connection to the families that owned the markets and restaurants and to people I met on the streets. These photographs are a celebration of all those Connections strong enough to transcend language.”

The reception will be held on Thursday, January 4th at 5:00 p.m.
Food and drink will be available, and the event is open and free to the public. For those unable to attend in person the artist talks will be streamed through Facebook Live.
“Connections” is made possible through funding in part by North Dakota Council on the Arts and the Arts Partnership.
